W*USA9 Officially Launches Online "A-List" Competition
DC area residents to vote for their favorites in multiple categories
WASHINGTON, D.C. - July 20, 2006 - Washington's CBS affiliate W*USA9 has officially unveiled an innovative and interactive web initiative unlike anything available in the Washington market: W*USA9's A-List, located at wusa9.com/alist, the station announced this week.
Consumers can visit wusa9.com/alist and nominate their favorite local businesses in more than 90 different contest categories. More than 600 businesses have already been nominated and appear on wusa9.com. The competition is open to all businesses within Washington's Metro area. Votes will be accepted online from July 18 to September 8, 2006, and winners will be announced the week of September 18th, 2006. All year long, the wusa9.com/alist will be the best local guide for consumers and Washington visitors.
W*USA9's A-List is a program where:
- Consumers determine the winners by popular vote, and voting security keeps the contest fair.
- Local businesses can create and update their own online profiles assuring the businesses' information is accurate and immediate.
- Image-based business profiles, filled with rich photography and graphics give voters important visual information to see the best Washington Metro has to offer.
- All participating businesses will receive signage for their place of business.
- Consumers and local businesses can track the voting results and nominate their favorites.
"The A-list is a cutting edge campaign targeted at our business community," said W*USA President and General Manager Darryll Green. " For years, print media has done many "best of" campaigns. We feel it is time for television to showcase the best businesses in the Washington Metro Area. What's even more exciting is that the community gets to vote for them in a totally secure environment. Television offers what no other media can with sight, sound, motion and emotion. Couple that with our ever growing website, and you've got a recipe that a lot of folks will want to be a part of!"
"W*USA9 and CityVoter are proud to support local businesses and offer DC residents a fun, interactive way to learn more about their city" said Joshua Walker, President and Founder of CityVoter. "Over the next couple of weeks, hundreds of businesses will join this competition. We're eager to see what voters think, and who they name the best."
